SCARBERRY —Osey Scarberry, 92, of Florence, p a s s e d away peace- fully July 21, 2016, while sur- rounded by f a m i l y members. Osey was born in Osey Peter Creek, Scarberry Ky., and was the youngest of her sib- lings. She graduated high school from Pikeville, Ky. Osey worked in her family general store until she met and married McKinley Scarberry. They lived in Kentucky until the cole mine closures, when family encouragement led them to the Pacific Northwest, where they lived for more than 60 years. During their years together, they owned Woodsman’s Nursery, where Osey enjoyed helping cus- tomers who became friends. Osey had a warm personality with a welcoming smile, sharp wit and a sense of humor. She loved to tease friends and fam- ily members. She talked to everyone and never met a stranger. Osey loved the game of ten- nis, played as often as she could, even into her 70s, win- ning a few local tournaments. Perhaps her greatest joy was spent playing with and support- ing her grandchildren Toni and Jeff. Osey was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband of 63 years, McKinley. She is survived by her son, Dan (Sue), of Florence and grandchildren Toni Zaback (Bob), of Corvallis, and Jeff (Paola), of Mesa, Ariz. Her family and friends will miss her.
