Here are three easy ways you can be a hero for these heroes… (1) Tell people you know at work, in your neighborhood, at your civic club, or at church that there is a new local non-proi t that is actively serving local vets, and doesn’t burden them with red tape. (2) Refer a veteran to the Florence Veterans’ Relief Agen- cy at the phone number below. (3) Contribute. Please join us and honor a veteran today with a di- rect, honorable, and discrete contribution. A i nancial git of any size from you enables even more local vet- erans to pay for a doctor’ or dentist appointment, pay their electric bill, get a new pair of shoes, af ord an auto repair, or move into a better situation. Please…be a hero for our heroes. h e Florence Veterans’ Relief Agency (FAVRA) is made-up of local veterans who help local veterans with emergency stop-gap grant funding for immediate food, clothing, shelter, medical, transportation, utilities, or other personal needs. FAVRA is a non- proi t subsidiary of the local American Legion Francis M. Yost Post 59. h e Post provides all administrative oversight to FAVRA, ensuring that 100 percent of contributions received go directly to local veterans in need. Your contributions make it possible to help additional deserving veterans! What We Do At er a simple qualii cation process, the vet usually has a check in hand within 24 hours. h e help we provide is anonymous, personal, discrete, and honorable. We’re not a government agency. We’re not the VA. We understand fellow vets. We don’t ask anything from them. We simply verify their status, and then provide them with urgently needed relief. h ere are no administrative costs. Every penny received goes directly to a vet in need! One Vet’s Story A local WWII vet needed desperately to move from her humble-yet-high-maintenance home into a safe and secure place that would make her daily living easier and more af ordable. All she needed was a small-but-quick infusion of cash to cover the minor transitionary costs of the move. She didn’t know where to turn. She couldn’t stay in her home. She couldn’t move out. She was stuck. h at’s when her friend called us on her behalf. We git ed the funds…no strings attached. Local contributions made it possible to honor and assist this fellow veteran! Big Event Coming to Florence Your local American Legion Post will host approximately 750 visitors in Florence June 22 to June 26 for an historic statewide convention. Participants will be looking for things to do during the i ve-plus days they are here. If you are a business person who wants to reach them, you can advertise very af ordably in the Convention Catalog.
