4 B SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, MAY 18, 2016 NED HICKSON/SIUSLAW NEWS ROB GRIFFES/FOR SIUSLAW NEWS Siuslaw junior Destinie Tatum won three district titles and ran a leg on the winning 4x400 team; sophomore Trent Reavis won both the shot put and discus district titles. Viks from 1B qualified for three events at state. Precht is set to compete in the 100 meter and 200 meter after winning both events at district (12.96, 26.94) and in the long jump (16 feet, 6.75 inches) after finishing fourth but making the state-qualifying mark. She is also a member of the district winning 4x100- meter team (4:12.41). Siegel will lace up her shoes for the 100-meter hurdles after winning the event at district (15.84), and will also compete in the long jump (third place at 16 feet, 7.75 inches) and triple jump (second place at 33 feet, 3 inches). Tatum had three individual first-place medals, qualifying her for state in four events after winning the 400 meters (60.88), 800 meters (2:22.74) and high jump (5 feet, 1 inch), as well as running a leg on the winning 4x400-meter team. In the throws, Oliver had wins in both the shot put (39 feet, 3 inches) and discus (120 feet, 8 inches, qualifying her for state. Bingham, the district 3,000- meter champion (10:44.01) will compete in that event as well as the 1,500-meters, where she placed second (5:00.19) to Mans (4:59.81). Mans was second in the 3,000 meters (10:44.02) to qualify for state. For the boys, sophomore thrower Reavis will advance to state after wins in both the shot put (48 feet, 3 inches) and dis- cus (138 feet, 8 inches) at dis- trict. Reavis is ranked No. 3 in the state in the shot put and No. 4 in the discus. Freshman runner Murray Bingham finished second at district in both the 3,000 meters (9:08.61) and 1,500 meters (4:16.19), advancing him to state, where he is ranked No. 6 in the 3,000 and No. 8 in the 1,500. Top individual finishes for the Viking boys included: Senior Tyler Williams — third in the 400 meters (52.94) Junior Jack Pickell — third in the 3,000 meters (9:35.15) and fifth in the 800 meters (2:10.87) Senior Marshall Teter — fifth in the javelin (141 feet, 11 inches) The OSAA 4A state track and field championships will be held this Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21, at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene.
