It was also a big day for senior Scott Gordon, who was as effective from the mound as he was at the plate, picking up the win as the starting pitcher and also getting onboard during all six of P IRATES , 15-10 his at bats. In a game that saw a total of 25 runs, Siuslaw scored in six out of seven innings. Still, Viking fans were never able to breath easily until the top of the sev- enth inning. At that point, the Lady Vikings were only down by three runs when the Pirates came to the plate to start the top of the final inning. By the time they handed the bats back over the Siuslaw, the Pirates handed brought home 11 runs for a 15- 1 lead. Though Siuslaw had nine hits against Marshfield’s junior pitcher Mackenzie Johnson, it wasn’t enough to rebound from the Pirates’ late-game rally. Siuslaw shortstop Anna Petras went 2-for-4 with a triple, first baseman Claire Waggoner was 2-for-3 with one run scored, pitcher Heidi Jones was 2- for-4 with two stolen bases and a trip across the plate, and Anna Stonelake went 2-for-3.
