SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, APRIL 23, 2016 OBITUARY TODD—Luella J. Todd, 74 of Hemet, Calif., passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Luella was born Thursday, Sept. 4, 1941, in Warren, Ohio, to the late Jennings a n d Annabelle Brown. Luella was a very a c t i v e w o m a n who loved Luella Todd to be out- doors. She was a leader of the Ramona Rancheros 4H Club, a member of various activity clubs and loved to go camping in the mountains and RVing to Arizona and Oregon. While enjoying the outdoors was a favorite activity, nothing was more important to Luella than her family. She loved gathering the family together for barbecues and spending time with all her grandchil- dren. Luella leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, William “Bill” Todd; four chil- dren: Barbara Walton, Jennie Lee (Gregory) Golem, Denise Ann Todd and Shirley Mae Cogdill; one sister, Mary Elen Green; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Luella was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privi- lege of knowing her. A memorial service will be held by the family in the near future. The family requests any donations be made to the American Heart Association in Luella’s name. Voter registration deadline is Tuesday The voter registration dead- line for the May 17 Primary Election is Tuesday, April 26. This is also the deadline to change your party affiliation. People who are not regis- tered to vote in any Oregon county may register online at oregonvotes.gov no later than 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, April 26. The online option is avail- able only to those with a valid Oregon driver’s license, DMV-issued identification card or learner’s permit. Other registration options: Submit a voter registration form to the Elections Office by 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 26. Mail a voter registration card to the Elections Office with a postmark no later than Tuesday, April 26. New voters who will turn 18 on or before the May 17 Election Day may register by the April 26 deadline and receive a ballot, even if they are still 17 on the deadline date. Primary elections are held so the members of a party can choose the party’s candidates for office. Only registered Democrats can vote to nominate candi- dates for the Democratic Party; only registered Republicans can vote to nomi- nate candidates for the Republican Party; and only registered Independents can vote to nominate candidates for the Independent Party. Other registered voters will receive a ballot with nonparti- san offices only. Florence Chamber seeks board member nominations The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is currently taking applications to fill three three- year vacancies on its board of directors. Applicants must be in good standing as Florence Area Chamber members, having paid their dues and actively participated in chamber activi- ties or committees. All board members are expected to support the cham- ber’s mission to “champion the future of the greater Florence community as an innovative leader in economic vitality and active lifestyle” and goals by helping to recruit new mem- bers, supporting special events and actively engaging in com- mittees and programs.
