Her work now appears at the gallery. Medeiros is self-taught in the ancient technique of wire wrapping by which she creates her special brand of handmade jewelry. Leather plays a signif- icant part in many of her pieces. Using semi-precious stones, crystals and leather, Medeiros weaves curvilinear designs into beautiful wearable art. Her talents as an artisan developed subsequent to her retirement from a career in the accounting world. After vaca- tioning in Florence, she and her husband moved here to take advantage and inspiration from the beautiful surround- ings. In the tradition of the arts festival, visitors will experi- ence and delight in the unique artistry while also having a chance to meet the artists. Some of the types of artistry that will be included are: woodturning, fused glass, stained glass, bead weaving, photography, metal work, gar- den décor, intarsia, fractal art, pine needle baskets, fiber arts and linens, wearable fabric art, knitted and crocheted acces- sories, scroll saw wood art, raku ceramics, obsidian knives, rocktography, hand painted pottery, watercolors, pyrography, lampwork beads as well as a variety of unique jewelry. The show’s artists will be donating 10 percent of their sales to support the Florence Arts Center, 120 Maple St. Orchestra to present spring concerts Oregon Coast Chamber Orchestra (OCCO), under the direction of Robin DeVour and John Monks, will pres- ents a Season Finale Spring Concert program in a three- concert series. Whether classical to con- temporary or folk to tradi- tional, there is something to please the likes of most lis- teners. Florence teacher Sarah Gage-Hunt is featured as flute soloist performing “Fantasia Húngara, Op. 26,” written for flute and orchestra by Albert Doppler. It is a well-known piece from the era of impressionism. Long-time Florence resi- dent Richard Jones will per- forma sax solo arrangement of Harline’s “When You Wish Upon a Star.” These are both must-hear pieces in a program that also includes selections from Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” “Paysage Sentimental” by Debussy, “Covent Garden” by Coats and “Dance of the Rose Maidens” by Khachaturian. Other pieces include a Czechoslovakian folk song titled “Gypsy Dance,” Cole Porter’s “Night and Day,” Herb Harrison’s arrangement of “Paris,” and Charles Perkins’ “Charlotte’s Web.” Musicians in this orchestra come from coastal communi- ties between Newport and Port Orford and from Eugene and Springfield. Performances are Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m., at Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, 360 W Seventh St., in Yachats; and Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m., at Florence Community Baptist Church, 4590 Highway 101. Adult admission is $10 at the door; students are admit- ted free.
