COM Saturday, April 16 Sunday, April 17 FAHS SELLS BURGERS , HOT DOGS C ITY L IGHTS Hot dogs and hamburgers hot-off- the-grill will be available in the Grocery Outlet parking lot, 2066 Highway 101, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is a fundraiser to help pro- vide care for the animals at the Florence Area Humane Society. Hamburgers cost $4 and hot dogs and Polish dogs are $3. Customers may add cheese to any order for 50 cents. Cold drinks are $1 and include a variety of soft drinks and bottled water. Humane society volunteers will also sell homemade pastries and desserts. F REE S HRED D AY AT OPB Oregon Pacific Bank will be holding its ninth annual Shred Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until the truck is full. Trucks will be set up to accept con- fidential paper materials to be shred- ded onsite in the Florence Branch parking lot, 1355 Highway 101. The event is free and open to every- one in the Florence community. Businesses may bring confidential materials for shredding during the last hour of the event. B INGO TONIGHT AT A DA G RANGE The public is invited to play Bingo at Ada Grange, located 10 miles out Canary Road. Come for good food and family fun. HOSTS H ITCHCOCK Join Alfred Hitchcock, the celebrat- ed master of suspense, as he talks about the making of “Vertigo” in a unique live performance at City Lights Cinemas at 3 p.m. Regular ticket prices apply, but patrons who have signed up for Lane Community College Florence Center’s new class, “The Cinema of Alfred Hitchcock,” taught by Jared Anderson, will be admitted free of charge. Alfred Hitchcock (played by Anderson) will speak on the true story of the behind the scenes turmoil of the film as he takes moviegoers through the making of what was recently named the greatest film of all time by the venerated British Film Institute. Following the performance, the audience will be treated to the newly digitally remastered “Vertigo” on the big screen, the way it was meant to be seen. After the film, take part in a Q&A session with Hitchcock. “An Evening with Alfred Hitchcock and ‘Vertigo’” is produced in conjunction with the Lane Community College Florence Center. Tuesday, April 19 R HODY S OCIETY TO MEET The Siuslaw Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will meet at 6.30 p.m. with refreshments, followed by the program at 7 p.m. Club members will answer ques- tions about rhododendrons, how to plant rhododendron seedlings and moving plants from pots into your garden.
