4 B SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2016 Fishermen: Brush up on new regulations SALEM — Anglers this year may have noticed that Oregon’s fishing regulations for 2016 are in a new magazine format publication, which is not only more colorful but sim- pler and easier to read. Over the past year ODFW worked on streamlining and simplifying the angling regula- tions. ODFW has also expand- ed opportunities for trout and warmwater fishing and provid- ed more consistent seasons and bag limits. Anglers should notice plain- er language and clearer descriptions of regulations. Content was also rearranged so that license information and fish ID photos are in the back of the regulations. Updated full-color zone maps can be found at the end of each sec- tion. Here are a few changes that anglers will see in the 2016 fishing regulations: Expanded year-round opportunities across the state for trout. In most areas where there were April openers, these rivers were expanded to be open year round. Reduction in the number of special regulations or excep- tions. One thing to be aware of is that some of the waters that you fish may no longer be list- ed under the exceptions. This means that they are now cov- ered under the zone regula- tions. Changes in fees. In 2016 there are fee increases on many angling licenses. This is the first time the fees have increased in six years. A new youth license was created. For $10, youth ages 12-17 will get a hunting, fishing, shellfish license and Columbia River Basin endorsement. There is also an online ver- sion available at www.eregula tions.com/oregon/fishing that can be accessed from mobile devices, tablets and desktop computers. This version includes the lat- est corrections and clarification to a few regulations that were causing confusion. Let Paul show you a new car or truck. Vikings from 1B beyond the arc and drawing the Trojans out of their 2-3 zone. That was until late in the second period, when Potter went flying backwards after taking a charge than sent her elbows-first onto the hardwood. After nearly 6 minutes on the floor, Potter was taken to the bench before eventually going to the hospital to have her elbow and back examined. With Potter out of the lineup, the Vikings’ offense focused on penetrating the paint — where junior guard Destinie Tatum has led the team in scoring. Tuesday was no exception, with Tatum scoring a team-high 15 points, along with 16 rebounds — accounting for half of Siuslaw’s overall offensive production for the night. Dotson had 6 points, Claire Waggoner, Madison Reynolds, Abby Watkins, Carreina Greenburg and Marika White each had 2 points for the Vikings. In the end, however, the Trojans went home with the win, 58-34. Last night, the Vikings fin- ished their season on the road (after press deadlines) at North Bend.
