During the school year, she also lived with her paternal grandmother, Nancy Gedney, in Sweet Home. In 1943, she married Ernest Pickett, also of Sweet Home, in Salinas, Kan., where he was stationed as a B-29 pilot. Ernie was later shot down over Japan and became a POW. After the war, they owned and operated a restaurant/bus depot in Sweet Home and later owned road-building and log- ging companies. Their two sons, Dick and Tim, were born in Sweet Home. In the early 1950s, the family moved to Florence, where they went into the auto parts business and had a third child, Kristi. Faye and Ernie were both active in the community. Faye was also an excellent watercol- or artist, a hobby which she developed in Florence and con- tinued with passion to the end of her life. Upon retirement, Faye and Ernie moved to Springfield, Ore., where they avidly enjoyed University of Oregon sporting events. After Ernie’s death in 1999, Faye moved to Salem and con- tinued a busy social life at Hidden Lakes active living res- idence. Faye developed many close friendships at Hidden Lakes and remained there for 15 years, busy with her activities, family and friends. She eventu- ally came to live with her daughter, Kristi, and Kristi’s husband, Don Negri. Faye had an easy-going and loving personality and it was always a pleasure to have her near. She truly enjoyed people and genuinely loved her many friends. Faye is survived by her three children: Dick Pickett and his wife, Peggy, of Springfield; Tim Pickett of Eliot, Maine; and Kristi Negri and her hus- band, Don, of Salem.
