I’ll leave all of that genius stuff to Chip Kelly because, yeah, he cer- tainly looks like he’s got it all figured out over there in Philadelphia. And now that the Pope is in Philadelphia and it’s impossible to go to Philadelphia even if you wanted to, and Philadelphia thinks it’s doing us a favor by keeping us out ... it gives me some time for thought- ful introspection. I kid Philadelphia. I love Philadelphia. Some of my best friends are Philadelphians. I think one of the greatest tests of a per- son's intelligence is asking them “’Pat’s or Geno’s?” But you just have to admire their timing. They kick out Tim Tebow a few weeks before the Pope gets there, and they still can’t score two touchdowns against the Cowboys with DeMarco Murray in the backfield. My larger point here is about religion in sports, though. I’ve noticed over the years that some people get very upset when athletes www.dfw.state.or.us/RR MID COAST LAKES Fishing for the various warm water fish species is fair to good during the summer months. This followed a 3-1 victory in the league opener last week against South Umpqua and a four-game loss to Marshfield. On Thursday, the Far West League got jammed up in the second-place position as Marshfield swept South Umpqua and North Bend beat GO 2-2 Brookings-Harbor in four sets. That same evening, Siuslaw faced Douglas and fell to the Trojans in four sets. Despite 11 kills from Makenzie York and stellar serving from Anna Mintin, Douglas was able to narrowly defeat the Vikings in four close sets. Cooler temperatures and forecast- ed rain will likely move some fish up to the head of tide section. The wild coho fishery continues through Nov. 30, with a daily bag limit of 1 adult coho and seasonal limit of 2 adult coho (in aggregate with other areas with the same bag limit). The bay and lower tide water sections typically produce the best results early in the season. The cutthroat trout fish- ery is fair in the lower reaches of the river and in upper tide water for sea runs. Fishing during the early mornings or near the larger tributaries is the most productive.
