Popular folk trio to play Drift Inn June 7 YACHATS — Kenny, Bob and Rob, a folk and country trio from Bandon, will perform at The Drift Inn Historic Pub Cafe on Friday, June 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Kenny, Bob and Rob is well known throughout southern Oregon for their polished vocal harmonies, skilled instrumental work and humor. The trio consists of Kenny Croes (acoustic guitar and vocals), Bob Shaffar (Dobro, fiddle and vocals) and Rob Hamilton (bass and vocals). Kenny, Bob and Rob COURTESY PHOTO Annual ‘Trees’ artist challenge reception set REEDSPORT — Coastal Douglas Arts and Business Alliance (CDABA) is issuing a challenge to all local artists in and around the communities of Reedsport, Gardiner and Winchester Bay. The theme for the 2015 Artist Challenge is “Trees.” An Artist Challenge reception will be held on Friday, June 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Mindpower Gallery, 417 Fir Ave., in Reedsport. CDABA will supply cash prizes for viewers’ choice: first place is $100, sec- ond place is $50, and third place is $25. The Judge’s Choicewinner will receive $100. Artists who wish to submit an entry must register his or her piece (limit two entries per artist) on Friday, June 12, between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., at the Mindpower Gallery. All art mediums are welcome. An entry fee of $5 per piece will be CDABA A RT W ALK REEDSPORT — Coastal Douglas Art and Business Alliance’s Spring Art Walk will be held, Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in conjunction with the International Chainsaw Carving Contest. The Art Walk will take place in Old Town Reedsport, along Highway 38. The event is an outdoor event and is free to the public. Artists, crafters, authors, photographers or makers of other hand made items are SET FOR applied. No early or late registrations will be accepted. Friday, June 12, will be the day to submit art pieces to be included in the challenge. Secret Garden Tour to benefit homeless shelter WALDPORT — The 12th annual Secret Garden Tour sponsored by the Samaritan House Homeless Family Shelter in Newport is set for Sunday, June 28, from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include visits to the gardens plus light snacks and wine. Participants are encour- aged to bring their own water. Tour participants will go on a self- guided adventure to several gardens in Makai and Waldport on the central Oregon coast. This year’s gardens include a garden with a unique view of the Alsea Bay and Bridge, as well as a lovely terraced rose garden. Other gardens highlight unusual features like a fire pit sitting area, a greenhouse with Carnivorous Pitcher plants, and spectacular garden art. This special event provides an oppor- tunity to see lovely gardens that normal- ly are enjoyed only by the owners and their friends and family. From the casual weekend gardener to the serious hobbyist, all gardeners can be inspired by what they see. Money raised from this event will benefit the Samaritan House Homeless Family Shelter, the only homeless fami- ly shelter on the central Oregon coast between Tillamook and Coos Bay. Its mission is to shelter, educate, and guide homeless families with children towards independent living.
