Thank you, Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund! Florence Food Share would like to thank the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund for their generous grant of $2,000 to fund a portion of our Culturally Diverse Food Project. Since the project’s inception on August 15, 2014, Food Share has been able to advertise specifi cally to the Latino population in our area; and to distribute food staples familiar to this demographic. We appreciate STCCF facilitating our outreach eff orts and look forward to continuing this project with possible additional funding by STCCF, as well as funding from other Foundations that recognize the importance of serving all the diff erent populations in Western Lane County. Th ank you! ¡Gracias! Families interested in apply- ing for a scholarship will need to complete an application, which can be downloaded at www.crowkids.com, by June 5. Regular camp applications are also due soon, with a dead- line of June 10. “CROW is preparing for its fifth year of hosting education- al summer theater camps, and enrollment forms are starting to come in every single day,” said CROW artistic director Melanie Heard. “This year’s camps are going to be fast- paced, fun, and highly creative, so if you have been on the fence about giving it a go, now’s your chance.” Heard stresses that camps are a great way to dip your toe into the water, without any added pressure of a large scale performance. “Many kids have seen one or more of our main-stage musi- cals and thought that they looked fun, but were nervous about actually auditioning for us,” said Heard. “This is the perfect way to learn the ropes in a low-stress atmosphere, where you can meet new friends and hone your skills. Plus, CROW camps are a great way for us to get to know you.” This year’s first two-week camp is titled “Musical Mix Up Song and Dance Camp” and will take place July 6-17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During these fun and fast- paced two weeks, campers will learn several song and dance routines from just about every genre (rock, country, pop, Disney, Broadway and more). Make sure to sign up early; Song and Dance camp is almost always sold out. The second camp will be “Games, Games, Games! Acting and Improv Camp,” and will take place July 20–31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During these super fun two weeks, campers will be exposed to a multitude of silly, creative and unique theater games specially designed to teach the skills that are needed to become a well-rounded actor or actress. Also offered is an Advanced Acting Camp, Aug. 3–14, dedi- cated to older kids (ages 12-22) who want to learn more com- plex acting techniques. The camp will focus on the crucial performing arts skills that today’s teens and young adults need to become success- ful in the world of the profes- sional theater. In order to attend this partic- ular camp, kids must either request an audition or receive a formal invitation from one of the directors. All three camps will culmi- nate in a free Professional Showcase for families and friends on the final day of camp. On July 31, CROW will reveal the name of its Spring 2016 musical, immediately fol- lowing the Showcase. The general public is wel- come to attend these showcases and the big “reveal.” Camps will be held at the Florence Playhouse, 208 Laurel St., in Old Town. Once again, no audition is necessary for the Acting and Improv or Song and Dance camps, but a deposit is required to hold a space for your child to attend any of the camps. For more information or to reserve your child’s spot, call Melanie Heard at 541-999- 8641 or visit www.crowkids .com. Downloadable applications are available on the CROW website.
