City Lights owner Michael Falter said he got the idea to add a stage after having musical group Miles to Go play in the space. “It’s amazing jazz,” he said. “We kind of felt that it would be even better if there was an actual stage.” “The acoustics are great,” said Judy Adams, director at It’s About Time. Hosting local students seemed like a good way to open the stage, organizers said. City Lights is donating $2 from every ticket sold to the music groups. “Both teachers are really excited that we’re doing this to support them. Music is expensive. Arts just don’t get (as much) support in the schools,” Adams said. She added, “This is a great opportunity for the community to see that this venue exists and it will help keep it alive. Michael has done amazing things with the building. It’s so much nicer than it ever has been.” The theater and stage will have lights and sound equipment and offers HDMI capabilities for pro- fessional presentations. It seats up to 148 people.
