He was born in Cottage Grove, OR on Jan. 16, 1970 to Norm England and Zetta McDaniel. He joined big sister Debbie and big brother Brad as the baby of the family. He attended Cottage Grove schools, where he met many of the friends he would count among his closest for the rest of his life. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1988. Aft er graduation, he spent time working at his sister and brother-in-law’s wrecking yard. He enjoyed being outdoors with the parts and the grease, but didn’t like dealing with customers at all. However, his brother-in-law Andy eventually made him work the counter, and a natural salesman was born. Aft er the wrecking yard, Larry gave the remainder of his career (19 years) to Les Schwab. When Larry was 20, he became the proud daddy of Shaela. He and Shaela’s mom divorced when Shaela was a teenager; they had moved to Florence from Cottage Grove some years before, so he and his “kiddo,” as he called Shaela, enjoyed everything about Florence… they spent their time together riding the dunes, fi shing, boating, camping and going to Traveler’s Cove. Larry had a deep love for Florence that would endure for the rest of his life. While there, he met the love of his life, Jayme, through close mutual friends. Jayme also happened to be from Florence originally, so they had lots in common; and it didn’t take long until Jayme and Larry were inseparable. Larry transferred his job to be closer to Jayme and daughters Stephanie and Jessica, and moved in with them in Albany. He remained there until his death. Larry loved hunting and fi shing and was a consummate outdoorsman from a VERY young age…many of his friends describe him as the strongest and best hunter they’d ever met. As great as Larry was at hunting and fi shing, he was even better at teaching what he knew. He spent the happiest years of his life sharing all of his experiences with Jayme, Steph and Jess. Th ey all learned from him how to ride the dunes, hunt, and fi sh….and he delighted in sharing all of those moments with them. With any catch or kill, he got as excited about their success as if it had been his own. Larry spent his life with a dog by his side…Labradors in particular…which were the perfect companions for his passion for the outdoors. His Labs Colton, Ruger and Gunner were like his own kids. He amassed friends wherever he went, enjoying many lifelong friendships. He was a great “bs- er,” a patient teacher of all things outdoors, and had a tremendous sense of humor. If Larry picked on you, and found an embarrassing nickname for you…you knew he really liked you. Larry truly relished life -- he milked every drop out of every day that he had on this Earth. His favorite sayings that he shared with literally everyone were, “It’s a GREAT day!” and “Life’s too short.” Larry was preceded in death by his mom Zetta, and his beloved dogs Colton and Ruger. His legacy is a large and loving family and many friends who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his fi ancee Jayme; his daughter Shaela and daughters of his heart, Stephanie and Jessica; two grandsons Kolbe and Landon; his sister Debbie and brother Brad; nieces and nephew Alisha, Cassie, Amanda, Melissa, Jennifer and Chase as well as seven great nieces and nephews who knew him as “the fun uncle”; very close cousins Darrel and Julie Fosback, and many others. A memorial service will be held in Florence on May 9 th at 11 a.m. in the Event Center of Th ree Rivers Casino.
