The Public Art Steering Committee is working with the Florence City Council to form a permanent Public Art Committee to place public art in several locations around Florence, including the western end of the Port of Siuslaw property. This grant, in combination with the donation from Bob Forsythe, will provide the funding for this piece with a nautical theme, along with a recognition plaque. Members of two coastal clubs win Area 34 contests Members of the Siuslaw Tale Spinners Toastmasters club from Florence, and the Yaquina Toastmasters club from Newport, competed in the Area 34 Evaluation Speech and International Speech contests last Saturday. They are also eligible to compete against Toastmasters from the Willamette Area clubs. Siuslaw Tale Spinners meet twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue Station on Highway 101.
