Exploring ancient mysticism and modern technology through sound? A wide-angle view on Glen Campbell’s final public per- formances? These topics inform the first four features of “True Story Tuesdays” — thrilling, pro- found and moving documen- taries screening Tuesdays at City Lights Cinemas. Documentaries take many forms and points of view and inform viewers about worlds that may sometimes elude their gaze. Documentaries at City Lights for the next two months include: • March 22: “Antarctica: A Year on Ice” Features astound- ing time-lapse footage of all four seasons on Antarctica • March 24: “Awake: The Story of Yogananda,” will include a live yoga flash mob in the lobby at 5:15 p.m. for a mat-free and fun yoga session • March 31: “Song of the New Earth” explores the extraordinary life and work of country singer turned brain sci- entist and shaman of sound, Tom Kenyon • April 7: “Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me.” After learning of his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Campbell embarks on a farewell tour • April 14: “Ballet 422.” From first rehearsal to world premiere, the story of a new ballet • April 21: “National Gallery.” Go inside one of the great museums of the world • April 28: “An Honest Liar.” The story of the “Amazing” Randi, famous debunker of magicians, fre- quently seen on The Johnny Carson Show • May 5: “Inside the Mind of Leonardo.” A partly animated exploration of DaVinci, in his own words • May 12: “The Wrecking Crew.” The story of the preem- inent pop-rock backing band Where possible, documen- taries will have an encore screening.
