Rick was born March 29, 1958, in Vancouv- er, B.C., Canada. Rick In the Thiergartner early 1970s, he moved from Malibu, Calif., to Grants Pass, Ore., where he graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1976. On Jan. 5, 1980, in Grants Pass, he married Cara Cameron. For more than 27 years he worked as a CNC machinist, including more than 17 years with Siskiyou Design in Grants Pass. In 2004, he moved with his wife to Florence, then to Eugene in 2007 to purse his career as a machinist. In 2013, he returned to Florence and most recently worked at Fred Meyer. Rick loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed salmon fishing on the Siuslaw River. His other passions over the years included remote-control trucks, boats and helicopters, and participating in car events with his 1967 Chevy Camaro. He also enjoyed outdoor activ- ities like camping and hunting. He especially loved his four- legged kids: doxies Ed (16) and Sam (15) and Max the cat. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Cara Thiergartner, of Florence; his parents: Heinz Thiergartner of Medford and Miranda Thiergartner of Rogue River; his brother, Bernd Thiergartner and his wife, Irene; his niece, Jessica Thiergartner Newton, and
