SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2015 3 A Enjoy live Irish music Florence Democrats make special library donation Sunday at Kenneth B In honor of St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Kenneth B Gallery will feature “Patty’s Party,” live Irish music with the “O’Darnits” this Sunday, March 15, at 6 p.m., at the Kenneth B Gallery. Enjoy Irish beer with Irish Hawaiian fare, provided by food vendor A Taste of Hawaii. Cost is $5 at the door. Members of the lively O’Darnits traditional Irish band include Jenny Members of the Florence Area Democratic Club pre- sented the Siuslaw Public Library with four special items detailing the struggle for voting rights in America. Chosen in large part for their educational merit, the donated items were the subject of a special letter written by retired educator and club member Harold Titus to local teachers and principals to ensure students are made aware of the library’s newest acquisitions. Two of the items are books for younger readers. Both pic- ture book “Elizabeth Leads the Way” by Tanya Lee Stone and chapter book “Marching with Aunt Susan” by Claire Rudolf Murphy detail the struggles of women suffragists, and their young supporters, as they fight to secure the vote for women. The third book, “Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom” by Lynda Blackmon Lowery, is aimed at young adult readers and tells the true story of Lowery — the youngest mem- ber of the 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala. “O’Sordyl” on fiddle, Roy O’Simpson on bodhran, and Steven McVay “O’Shamus” on guitar and fiddle. The FADC membership wanted to share the legacy of voting rights in America with the area’s youngest citi- zens. The presentation of items was made at the Feb. 26 Friends of the Siuslaw Library meeting. Three Rivers Casino and Resort changes menu and schedule Three Rivers Casino and Resort has announced it will be making significant changes to its restaurant offerings in Florence. The Prime Rib Steakhouse will re-open as Sunset Grille on Monday, March 23. The main advantage to cus- tomers with the change will be an improved schedule offer- ing, as Sunset Grille will be open daily with full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus seven days a week. Currently, Prime is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday for dinner only. Three Rivers assures its customers that it will continue the same wine offerings as Prime — which include some of the best on the Oregon Coast — at Sunset Grille. Prime had been recognized several times by Wine Spectator Magazine, and the tradition of fine wine offerings will carry on.
