Members of the Florence
Area Democratic Club pre-
sented the Siuslaw Public
Library with four special
items detailing the struggle for
voting rights in America.
Chosen in large part for
their educational merit, the
donated items were the subject
of a special letter written by
retired educator and club
member Harold Titus to local
teachers and principals to
ensure students are made
aware of the library’s newest
acquisitions.
Two of the items are books
for younger readers. Both pic-
ture book “Elizabeth Leads the
Way” by Tanya Lee Stone and
chapter book “Marching with
Aunt Susan” by Claire Rudolf
Murphy detail the struggles of
women suffragists, and their
young supporters, as they
fight to secure the vote for
women.
The third book, “Turning 15
on the Road to Freedom” by
Lynda Blackmon Lowery, is
aimed at young adult readers
and tells the true story of
Lowery — the youngest mem-
ber of the 1965 voting rights
march from Selma to
Montgomery, Ala.

Three Rivers Casino and Resort changes menu and schedule
Three Rivers Casino and
Resort has announced it will
be making significant changes
to its restaurant offerings in
Florence.
The Prime Rib Steakhouse
will re-open as Sunset Grille
on Monday, March 23.
The main advantage to cus-
tomers with the change will be
an improved schedule offer-
ing, as Sunset Grille will be
open daily with full breakfast,
lunch and dinner menus seven
days a week.
Currently, Prime is open
Thursday,
Friday
and
Saturday for dinner only.
Three Rivers assures its
customers that it will continue
the same wine offerings as
Prime — which include some
of the best on the Oregon
Coast — at Sunset Grille.
Prime had been recognized
several times by Wine
Spectator Magazine, and the
tradition of fine wine offerings
will carry on.

the Voting Rights Act later
The last item donated, a
