Garden Club to hear from beekeepers Theater to offer jazz brunch Sunday The Miles To Go Quartet will play jazz at City Lights Cinemas, 1930 Highway 101, on Sunday, Feb. 8, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Mapleton Lions to offer pancakes The next Mapleton Lions Club pancake breakfast will be Sunday, Feb. 8, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Mapleton Lions Club, 88148 Riverview Dr., in Mapleton. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, ham and eggs. Cost is $6 to $7 for adults, and $3 for children. SAPPSA gathers Monday The Siuslaw Area Partnership to Prevent Substance Abuse (SAPPSA), will meet Monday, Feb. 9, at 3:30 p.m., at the Siuslaw Public Library. The meeting is free and open to the public. LCC seeks volunteers for ESL program The English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Lane Community College Florence Center is in need of volunteers. On Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., ESL needs one volunteer to help a student study for the citizenship test. Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon, a volunteer is needed to help mid-level ESL students with English conversation. For more information, call the LCC Florence Center at 541-997-8444, ext. 4835. PFLAG-Florence maintains an extensive free lending library of useful and entertain- ing materials, along with booklets that are free for the taking. Us TOO cancer support Tuesday The next meeting of the Us TOO Florence Prostate Cancer Education/Support Group is Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw, from 5 to 7 p.m. Urologist Bryan Mehlhaff and prostate cancer survivors will be present. Meetings are an excellent source of prostate cancer information. Bring questions and get answers, or just come to listen and learn.
