DISCIPLINE. What means the order, cheerfulness nnJ happiness we behold in this school? It means that law, government, disci- niino are here. Are the pupils con tented anl happv? Perfectly so. Why? I'mvliisi! the pupils are so eiicour itred to self-control and self-help that occa sions for discipline seldom arise. There has been verv little corporal punish- in. nt this vear. Not more than half a ilo.eii cases, and the teachers have rea son to hone that there will be still less in the future. AIMS AND VIEWS. Well, the aim of this school is thor oughness. There is such a crying want of this thoroughness at the present !:iv. It is pitiful to no into many schools and see how little the pupils know of the pages that lie before their eves, as unintelligible as it they were written in Hindoo; how superficial thevare; how thev catch terms and names anil the base language of rules, but comprehend not their meanin'r: how. if you take them from the letter, von find th:t thev have no knowledge of its spirit or substance.
