A corres pondent of the Oregonian, writing from Wood burn says : This place being the headquarters of the Moialla mines, and as there are i-arties going and coming from here almost every day, I desire to keep your readers postetl from tune to tune in regard to this matter. I informed you in my last letter that on the day lfore i Dutchman had arrived here from that rc'ioit with some unknown specimens. Vfter as close an examination as could Jkj made under the circumstances, by nivelf and others, the conclusion was arrived at that it was a pretty rich cop per ledge, mixed withacertain propor tion of native silver and also quick silver. These specimens created great excitement, and on the following morn ing a coiniMiny of live, led by Mr. Sour front, on a tl vinif pair of twisted shoes, left for the new Washoe, well prepared with notices to stake out their claims. Mr. Henrv Hedges, who was one of the mities, arrived hero last evening in a thoroughly demoralized condition. Under the excitement, his provisions gave out lie fore he noticed it, and he had to make Ins way home without anything to eat but a piece of tobacco. I complained of In-ing very still", and his face showed all the marks of the privations and .sufferings he claimed to have endured, lie also brought some KKcimens of the same nature that were brought U'fore. They will soon be taken to Portland to he assayed. There will ixi a stock exchange established here soon, but as the parties are all of limited means, if the ass iv proves suc cessful, a nr.mls'r of the leading mer chants of Portland will be called upon to invest in stock. When Mr. Jletlges left our Dutchman was pit-king away, llesavs that as soon as he gets S."5),0M he will leave for Sliermaney," and leave the rest for some other poor tlcvils. . Judge Athey's coint has been occupied during the p:ist week with the case ot State vs. Henry Nacliand. It seems that the ilefcmlant hail laid a water pijxi from the spring above Cason's meadow, to his I'liunmi r fruit dryer, and failed to cover the ditch across I lie country road to the satisfaction of some of the resi dents of the district. Complaint was made to the Supervisor, who ordered the defendant to remove the obstruc tion, which he failed to do, and the Su xrvisor brought suit lieforo Justice Atliey. After eiiipanneling three juries, and going to considerable, ex pnse, the ease was decided against M r. Naehaud. and he can now appreciate the luxury of the law. The obstruction could have been removed for a cost of not more than &.-, but as il is, he had to remove the obstruction and nav the ensts i" the suit, which amounted to IIiiiUw.VY.MAX AniMiAD. Tjast Mon day evening, Gordon Hayes, a young man alout 17 years of age, residing rivo miles south-west of Oswego, was wav Jaid and robbed, lie had been io Oswego to purchase some provisions, etc., for his father, and was returning a Hnt 10 o'clock in the evening. When alMut three miles from Oswego, a man pimped from Itehind a tree and knocked linn from the horse, and another person grabbed him by the neck and choked Mm until he was senseless. It seems that a small tire had been left in the dryer when the employes quit work at 6 o clock, and it is supposed the fire orig inated from that. The loss is estimated to Ije about $7.30. Just So.--The Albany '"Democrat" has the following, which we verily be lieve will fill the bill for a goodly num ber of our readers : "We have observed that the greediest man after a newspaper is the one who is too mean to subscribe. lie is always in waiting for the latest paper, and if is not two minutes on the uv ncr's prem ises till the non-subscribing fiend pounces nbon it, and never lets up till the last line is read, and then perhaps will cast it aside with the remark that he could make a better paper himself." Those who use llostetter's Stomach Hitters as a means of invigoration and protection against disease, invariably reap an ample harvest of health. Di gestion, excretion and secretion are rendered regular and vigorous by this ruling tonic and alterative, anil the es sentials of health being secured, that blessing naturally follows. Nervous diseases, intermittent and remittent fevers, rheumatism, biliousness, ami kidney or bladder troublesare speedily relieved by the Hitters, which are as potent in preventing these maladies as in remedying them. And it may almost 1m; said that their power of pre venting diseases is as strong a recom mendation in their favor as their power of curing them, especially in localities where febrile complaints of an inter mittent typo prevail, and where the ordinary, resources of the pharmaco peia, such as quinine, arsenic, bis muth, etc., afford no adequate safe guard. The fiifters are also highly desirable as si sub tit ute for the ordinary nervines and sedatives. The hydra teof chloral and the bromide of potassium are both highly pernicious drugs, the first clouding the brain and, it is said, weak ening tho tonicity of the venous sys tem ; ami thelatter rniningthedigestion and infesting the blood. Hostetter's Slitters achieves the remedial purMsc of both these medicines, which is to sooth the brain and nerves, without causing any hurtful after effects, but on the contrary, toning as well as soothing the irritated sciisoriuui. The nervous invalid who uses this superla tive vegetable nervine, finds in it a source of unspeakable relief, and of un wonted vitality as well. Iron In the Blood.
