Dayton now only makes semi weekly trips up the Yamhill. Freight has become rather scarce up the river. Cataract Hose Co. No. 2, meets next Tvesday evenin. Fountain Hose Co. Ho says: "The competency of legislation "to regulate railroads is conceded, yet the St. Paul and Northwestern Com panies have announced their deter mination to operate their roads with out reference to the provisions of the act. This, he says, is at once a source of profound regret, and in marked contrast with the patience and submission exhibited by the people in presence 'of w hat they have deemed unjust and burdensome exactions of the railroad companies in the past, and, if presisted in, it must seriously disturb the business and greutlv imperil the industries of the State' The proclamation con cludes as follows: "I therefore en join all' railroad corpomtionR, their ollicers and agents, personally, to submit to the law, for, since the Ex ecutive is charged with the responsi bility of seeing that the laws nre faithfully executed, all the functions of his oflice will bo exercised to tluA end,'" and for this purpose he in vokes the aid uiai co-operation of all good citizens. . . Court Judg"s last night, by a band of armed men, is chargod by Brooks' men to Bax ter's adherents. -and by the latter to Brooksites. The whereabouts of tho Judges' is still unknown. There is a report of another battle between King White's forces and a party of Brooksites. The city is full of war like rumors that Brooks is about to attack Baxter, and vice versa. Unit ed States troops occupy the old pos ition between the belligerents. Chicago. May . A meeting of the Advisory Board of the State Far mers' Association was held at Bloom ington yesterday, o2 of the 102 coun ties in the State being represented. It was decided by a nearly unani mous vote to organize a political party independent of existing organ izations, and to call a State Conven tion, to meet at Bloomington May 27th, to forward such action. Sti.v wangiink, N. Y., May 2. A boiler in Condit's paper mill explod ed this evening. Seven or eight persons were killed or wounded, and the mill and machinery destroyed. Kingston, N. Y., May i. Seven dead bodies have been fallen from the debris of the Shawanguink Mills destroyed by a boiler explosion last night. Three persons were fatally wounded. ArorsrA. May 2. Doc. Barlow, the chief of the Rad ical ring in this county, came near being "sinched" by them last Mon day. It required" the Democratic votes to save him.
