TrareJ fcs greatly increased over the Fenawawa f err jr. - ....-.,. - The Hez Perce Indian charged with the death of a Umatilla is to be tent to Vancouver. 1 Sergeant Wiseman, who was arrested for desertion at Walla Walla, the States man says, has been released and restored to duty. V"-.;-.,;. .An old woman with a basket of clams on her bask undertook to cross the rail road track at Seattle and was instantly killed by an approaching coal train. The people ef Montana have celebra ted the entrance of the North Pacific in to their .Territory. A silver npike and a polished oak tie were used on the acca eien. , .At FarmiBgton, Palonse county, a man named Bilgen and Robert Tiadle had a quarrel, and while tho latter had the former down Eilgeu fired a bull through Tindle's neek, but he is doing welL. About fifteen men heped fight the fight At Rock port, Palouso county, - the Gazette, says Harrey Cambell , had his forefinger mashed in machinery so it was amputated, and an Indian got his blanket caught in the shaft of the grist will and was whirled around several times and i considerably damaged. Engineer Sheets has discovered an other pass through the Cascade moun tains. It is located a few miles north of Aha Snoqualmie, with an altitude of 3,300 JEeefc." Mr. Sheets reports the approaches to this pass from either side of the moun tains as apparently much easier than those of either the Natchess or Snoqoal i& No tunneling will be required. The route, if accepted, will follow up XJreen River to the summit, thence down the Yakim, below Lake Kitchelas, thence lown the Yakima xiver through Kittitas jraliey to the mouth of the Natchess river to connect with the Natchess line there. Mr. Kingsbury has finished the survey of the Natelugs Pass in the vicinity of . the summit, and is now surveying the r out from Wilkeson to White river val ley, above Mud Mountain, which will complete all the survevs neeessoirv tn Am. j . - termine the cost of building by the Natcheas route. At this season of the year it is a very difficult and costlv work to Jaake surveys on the summit of the . mountain, but it appears to be the desire . of General Sprague to present to the .board of directors, as speedily as possible, .the information necessary to enable them to decide which roate should Ve adopted, and the President and Directors are quite as anxious to be informed to the end stated. The heights of the passes explored from Mount Adams northward are as follows:: The Cispus Pass, 10 miles north of Mount Adams, has an elevation Above the see of 3,900 feet; the Tieton Pass, 15 miles north of the Cispus has an elevation of 4,900 feet; the White Pass, 10 miles north of the Tietan. 4.500? t.fa tawlitz, 7 miles north of the White, 4', S50 feet; the Carleton or Packwood Pass, 2 miles north of the Cowlitz, 4,200 feet ; the Natchas, being the first pass north of Mount Rainier, 5,000, reduced by tun neling to 4,700 feet; the Tacoma or Sheets Paw, 5 miles north "of the Natchess, 3, 500 feet; and the Saoqualmie, ,010, re duced by tunneling to 2,760. Dayton luinc GOOD rosK. X& Stock Journal We hare, within a year or two past, frequently discussed the method of feed ing and general management essential to producing the most healthy swine and the beat quality of pork, we have em Phasixed the fact that broeduig stock es pecially should ot be subject to the forcing, high pressure system that o geaerally prevails among our best feed ers, and we have asserted that this same system, while it might be for the present the most remunerative system for farmes, was not conducive to the general health f swine, nor productive of the best quality of pork. The time is coming, however, when farmers will be compelled aoloojt more to Che general health and thrift of their hogs, on account of the .alarming prevalence of disease among them. Buyera are already beginning to discriminate between well developed, well fattened, muscular hogs, and the ever-ied masses of blubber that one so often sees in the market Webfoot .Oil cures pain, internal or external in from one to fifteen minutes.
