Bleakman is making regu lar trips with the auto stage again, after a vacation of several weeks, Since getting the machine properly adjusted it seems to be giving good eatisfaction. Mrs. Salena Scharff arrived on Tuesday evening from Oregon City with her children, and they depart ed on Wednesday morning for the old home at Monument, to visit friends and relatives. Frank McCabe was in from Big Butter creek Monday and states that his hay crop is not so good this season, for want of proper moisture) but since the ruins the range has improved a great deal. The families of Dr. Boyden and Dr. Metzler departed for the moun tuins with their camping outfits yesterday morning and will spnd a few days rusticating along the banks of upper Willow creek. The moving picture show has closed down for the summer season and the proprietors have gone to work at something else. The boys were giving a good show but pat ronage was not f ufiicient to keep up expenses. XV. J. Watteuburger was in Heppner yesterday, the first time in many mouths. Ilolmes, former Morrow county farmer, but who now resides at Lents Oregon, was a visitor a few days ago to the old farm in the Gooseberry section. Like many others, Frank finds it im possible to keep house without the Gazette, so be left his order for a years' supply before returning home. Joseph J. Hughes' left on Satur day morning for Hood River where he will have charge of a switch I engine in cue yaras. joe nas been in the employ of the railroad at Heppner for some time, having charge of the roundhouse here, and his promotion comes as a reward for faithful service. D. S. Barlow aud wife and W. L. Barlow and wife were visitors from Eight Mile on Monday. Dan has just returned from a visit to the Spokane country where he has been for several weeks. He saw lots of good grain up that way, but so long as he has to farm, he prefers Mor row county. Rev. M. R. Thompson returned from Portland on Tuesday evening. He spent the past week down there attending the big interna tional convention of the Christian church, and pronounces it a grand affair and one that stirred the re ligious element of the metropolis. Heading will commpnce quite generally over Morrow county this week. R. A. Thompson brought down his outfit from the big foot hill ranch, and begun work at Oscar Minor's place on Monday. He will start in on the Duttou field for Jess Hall right away. Hansom Hughs returned on Monday from a visit to Portland and other cities along the line. He states that conditions at Hepp ner are as good, if not better than many of the places he visited, and we seem to have as little to kick about as any of them. In a card to friends here, P. O. Borg states that he is having the time of his life at the beautiful resort of Pasadena, Calif. He and his wife are taking in the scenes of Southern California and enjoy ing themselves to the full.
