Mrs. Watson is a sister of Mr. Conser. Ed Ashbaugb, formerly of this c'ty, was in the city Friday. Mr. A'hbougb is now a traveling sales- man for a Portland confectionery Louse. E. L. Freeland, Lee Matlock and Wm. Cowins returned yesterday evening from Arlington where they Lad been goose shooting. The ehootiDg was poor. Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Stabler of Wyoming, were incoming passeng ers Tnesday evening. Mr, btabler is a well known sheepman and is Lere looking over the sheep market and prospects. Mr. Fred Zilly and Miss Edna May Imbrie were married at the residence of tne bride's parents at Hiilsboro, on October 19. Mr. Zilly is the popular representative of the Irwin-IIodson Co., and is well known in Heppner. Mose Ashbaugh came in from Eight Mile, Monday. Mr. Ash baugh states that it will take about two weeks to finish threshing in the upper Eight Mile and Hai dmt country. Of this number the Frye-Bruhn company of Seattle will feed 3,000 head for their own use next spring. This company has already pur chased 4,000 tons of hay in the But ter creek country and is now gath. ering cattle from Wallowa, Grant, Umatilla and Morrow counties for winter feeding. They are deter mined to have fat cattle for the early spring and so have engaged in the feeding business to furnish this supply. Fifty-four carloads, comprising about a thousand head, are being received this week from Elgin, and a portion of a 2,500 head purchase in the Izee country is also being received at the Butter creek feed yards. Aside from the Frye-Bruhn com pany many individual feedeis will feed large numbers of cattle in the Butter creek and Hudson bay dis tricts and from all prospects now Umatilla county will feed the lai--gest number during the coming winter that has ever been fed in the county in one year.
