The annual report of Samuel Esteb, road supervisor, was ac cepted. The annual report of J. H. Al len, road supervisor, was ap j roved. H. Lacy, et al, for county road, granted. The amount of bills paid daring the second day of the session amounted ia the aggregate to 8716.95. A license fee of 400 was fixed for peddlers and hRwkers in Mor row coanty. No license to be is sued for less than a year. Franchise for a telephone line was granted to Geo. Perry for a line from Heppner to Eight-Mile. COIHTY ROAD BOOK. Compilation of Complete Record Bjr the Surveyor. Monow county is to have a new road book. The task of making a complete and comprehensive record of every county road in the co nty is a big job. Lewis Kinney, under the di rection of County Surveyor J. J McGee, is now engaged in the work in the surveyor's office. Mr. McGee commenced the work abjut the first of last December. When finished the books will be among the most complete records in the state. The surveyor visited several other counties to get all the pointers possible to help in the compilation of the work. Portland Own Forestry Buiidluic Th it Fo Hand will own the Forestry building ia settled, for yesterday the Council approprived $14,000 for the purchase of the site on which it ftands, and the Mayor stated after the meeting that he bad withdrawn his opposition to the project and would heartily sup port it. "If the Council had not made the ap propriation today, it would have m-de the purchase tomorrow, as requested originally by that body," said Mayor Lane. "A'Satl was opposed to the retention of the building by the city, but receatly I went out sad carefully Inspected it, fend its nosgniSrence im pressed me, and now m yery much in favor of it. I have had the Building Inspector out to look over it, it could be kept in its present condition for many years." When the Council, two weeks ago, revoked the ordinance ordering it pur chase, and later reconsidered the mat ter, The Telegram made the statement that the building would finally be re tained.
