The background of t..e nUre w.ts beau tifully decorated w ith fir b iwh, and on each Bide lace curtaiux were draped, making a very pretty effuct. Above the stage curtain was the class motto, in gold letter, with a border of evergreens, "By Our Efforts we Hope to Rise." McCarty Treasurer The subjects chosen by the class showed good judgment, and notwith standing the extra amount of work which they had to do, were well exe cuted. The state school board has added an extra grade to the high school course, making double the work for those who graduate this year. The president of the Pendleton Academy, Rev. F. F. Forbes delivered the address to the class, w hich was very instructive and if followed would tend to elevate mankind. He said that if you made up your mind to accomplish anything and used all your energy in that direction there was no shcIi a thing as failure. Mr. Forbes cited instances where this had been put into practice successfully. J. M. llager, chairman of the board of directors, presented the diplomas to the class. He said that he was not a speaker, but by the time he had finished the audience was of a different opinion. The fcyiaphory orchestra furnished the music and Heppner people should feel very proud of having such good musicians.
