The shipments of wheat alone for the mouth to date have amounted to tl0,LMl bushels, and two Oriental steamers have taken out enough flour, reduced to wheat measure, to swell the total to 1 .OL'O.rtsi bushels. In addition to this, two vessels have carried away 51'r,;iSI bushels of barley. Senator John H. Mitchell returned Wednesday, after an absence from Port land of ttiree and a had months. Leav ing Portland, Senator Mitchell went almost directly abioad, where he spent two months with his family in Paris. When he went awav Senator Mitchell's health was poor, and he hud not fully recovered from his serious illness of last spring. The troupe would have left a better impression upon Heppner theatre-goers if they had not stayed, as, aside from La Belle Laurette, the mind reader, and one or two ther specialties, the play was not worth listening to. Part of the even ing's program was termed a farce" comedy, and it was a "fsree" in every sense of the word. Heppner people can appreciate a good thing when they hear it, and it was an imposition to have the nerve to torture our people by this second play, after Laving receired '22'i the nigbt before.
