THE POLK COUNTY ITEMIZER. POLK COUft th e Admitted to the second T H U R S D A Y ,! V. P. FIS PHONES B E I'k j Residence, 113 Palronite One Anothrr for the Cubi OUR NEW POSTOFFICE 181 Beit Equipped One in West Side Counties. Postmaster C. O- Coad informs us this morning that i( nothing happens, he will be able to move into hi* new quarters by next Monday probably Saturday night. Under bis supervision we looked over the room, ami alter in s p e c t i o n cannot blame him and his ef ficient force for the pride which they feel in soon being able to work in hucii convenient and commodious a building. There will lie 500 boxes altogether, all on the left hand as you enter, and 100 of them being of the latest combination lock pattern. They are of metal, and all you have to do is to know vour combination, the carrying of a key be ing altogether done away with. The trunt of the brick lias two large plate glaps windows and double doors and on entering you find yourself in a large lob- by dtt feel wide and about half of it -Id fe,*t long, excepting the space taken up by the distributing department. Back of this is a large room fortlie sorting of mail and the clerical work. The rur al route carriers will receive and take out their mail from the side door on the allev, ami will not interfere in any wav with patrons of the lobby. They will also be especially well fixed for sorting their mail and have abundant room. The office will he heated bv steam, have plenty of electric lights, city water, toi let and other conveniences. There are two delivery windows. Tile two in front will now lie used for mail distribu tion and money order business, but in the future, when the town grows a lit tle more and additional help is secured Postmaster Coad will use the one at the end of the lobby for money order and postal business and have stamp and de livery widows at the front. The inte rior finish and decorations are superb, ami is the work of those skilled artists, Holman A Dungan. They have surely done a nice job and nuide our postoflice a credit to a town of three times its size. Well may Mr. R. E. Williams, the owner of the brick, lie proud of hi* accomplishment, and the business hous es he has built up on Court street.
