Big Increase in Corvallis' Enumeration. .. The enumeration of all chil dren of school age in Cor vallis, known as school district No. 9, has just been completed by W. A. Buchanan. All chil dren in the district prior to Nov. 25th were included in the list and shows an enrollment of 1,028 making an increase over last year of 9 per cent. State School Superintendent Acker man ruled that those over 20 years of age should not be placed i on the list wiach would have added 40 more. The school board has carefully considered the current expenses for the en suing year and deem it neces-; sary to ask the people , for a levy of 7 mills and notices of a school meeting have been posted, to be held at the court house on Dec. 22d, at 2 o'clock, to , vote on the proposition. This is a question of vital importance to our citi zens and we hope to see our peo ple show the interest they take in the education of theirchildren by voting sufficient funds. , Cor vallis has the reputation of be ing an educational center and to handicap the public schools with short rations would give us a black eye when we go before the legislature next winter ask ing liberal appropriations for O. A. C. It makes us tired to see only forty or fifty votes : cast on a tax levy or the election of a school director as has been done in the past.
