The action of the play is in Kahnburg, a small principality in Germany, and deals with the complications in trying to dethrone King Hec-; tor, a despot who has run. his kingdom into debt and ground down his subjects. A corre-1 spondent for the London Record, a light hearted fellow, wanders into Kahnburg in search of news. He is arrested as a spy. The Prime Minister and his fol lowers who are plotting to rid the kingdom of Hector, are so impressed with the correspond- j ent's marvelous resemblance to the king, that they induce him j to impersonate the king, who is away on a secret mission.
