Horner has been visiting in Eugene this week at the Dr. M.' M. Davis home and was also the guest of her daugh ter, Miss Vera, who is a student of the U. of O. ' D. A. Heater has sold his neat new residence on 11th and Van Buren streets to Mr. Montgom ery and will at'once commence the erection of another house in Job's addition. Charles Thorp is erecting a new house on 3rd and Tyler streets, size 24x36, to be occu pied by one of the new sawmill men. Help the good work along by voting for Taft. Mr. Ebel, the painter, has plans out for an elegant $2,000 residence, to be built on his lots between A and B streets on 4th. The Knight property on 2nd street has been sold again to Mr. Waggon, the picture man. The house will, . be separated and thoroughly remoddled. Settlewright and wife of Indiana are making a tour of the Pacific Coast. "The are spending a few days at the Huff home and will go back through California. They are very fav orably impressed with Oregon. Corvallis Artisan Lodge : No. 23 has had a wonderful growth during the past five weeks under the "boosting" influences of J. A. Darrow and wife, who have been devoting their time to the work. Over 50 members have been added which will now make the membership about 150. Martin Butler, an old ' and highly ' respected citizen was buried at the Newton cemeterv on Wednesday at 10:30. The services was conducted by Rev. J. R. N. Jones, pastor of the church at Coquille last year, will be the presiding elder for this district. Rev. C. L. Mc- Causland has been transferred to Seattle and with his estimable family will leave next week for the new home. ' It is with deep regret we learn of their future departure, but wish them all success in the new field. Things were lively around the Express office on Tuesday for a few minutes. Oscar lom of Al sea brought in two "beautiful" porkers for shipment and deliv ered them to Agent Gray. The " jint" debate at the court house between Socialist Lewis and a college student afforded fine sport at the court house on Monday night.
