Already near ly 475 students have enrolled, whieh is greater than the "total enrollment for the whole of last year. A large number of old students will return within the next two weeks and the total en rollment for the year will reach 550, or an increase of 30 per cent over last year. " The old college barn is., now being repaired with .new sills, after which it will be moved east in order to give a better view of Mrs. Artemissa Lewis died at Philomath,: Sunday, at 2 o'clock, ' of heart disease, and was buried, yesterday 'ai: the Newton cenie-' tery. Mrs. Lewis was born in Marion county, Indiana, Oct. 18, 1836, and was almost 72 years of age at the time of her death. The financial result was very gratifying and the mem bership is beginning to look for ward to this event with pleasant anticipation. A card received bytrelatives in Corvallis from a party in Wal lowa, Eastern Oregon, states that it had been snowing' there and was freezing every night. The card is dated Sept. 26th and sug gests rather chilly weather com pared with the warm, balmy days of the Willamette Valley. No doubt the students of that sec tion were glad to return to OAC. There was a quiet .wedding at the Presbyterian manse, Monday evening, when Oscar Reuben Gustafson of Corvallis and Miss Lydia Dean of Bellefountain were united by Rev. J. R. N. Bell in the presence of the nec essary witnesses. been a teacher in the public school near Bellefountain and is well known in that vicinity.
