There are serious burns on the back, on either side of the backbone, and one arm is in a very bad condition. The family has been unfortunate ever since coming to Benton county, the members hsving been peculiarly af flicted with accidents of various kinds, and much sympathy is felt for them in this latest trouble. - - Walter Lockewaa passenger for Newport, Saturday. - " . Mrs. Amelia Stuver is expected to arrive this week from Puyallup, Wash.; for a visit with Mrs. Wil liam Waggoner in this city. George Miller, while employed at the creamery, Saturday, became mixed up with an electric wire in tuch s way that he received a pret ty severe shock. Fellow-workmen went to his relief before he received serious injury. The first binder to be started this eeasonm Benton county, so far as reported, began operations Fri day on the Frank Wilson place, about seven miles south of Corval lis. Mr. Horton and wife were en route to C: Jt'rfordsville and at a point on the Celapoo'a ilver they stopped at a wayside spring and a small v 'chin appeared out of the brush and re quested a piece of chewing tobacco, explaining that his dog was "power ful sick" and unless a remedy were applied death would certainly re sult. Touched by the story of ca nine suffering Mr. Horton whacked off a liberal 4 dose" of fine cut, and drove on. While en rout e home the next day, another stop was made at the spring and a small girl was playing there. ''How is your brother's dog?" asked Mrs. Horton, to which the little one replied with a grin, "He ain't got no dog, he jist wanted a chaw of terbacker," and Mr. Horton immediately drove on.
