J j j corvauis is gaimag a reputa tion as an "easy mark" town, through the erratic zeal of some ot her indiscreet scribes. When ever a faker visits this burg he gets a column or more free ad vertising, and the impression is given out that he carries away all ioc noaung wealth ot the town. This puts all the other fakers in the country on to the place, and it will not be long before our town is flooded with get-rich quick schemes and schemers. This idea of our town is not the correct one. Our citizens are not more gullible than the aver age. Times have been good for the last year, and nearly every body has spare change in his pocket. This makes the crowd good natured, and a little hum bug is appreciated, when some one else gets bit Yet this same crowd would enter with equal enthusiasm into the sport of giv ing a swindle a ride on a rail, Ton should enroll in the Corvallis Business College ou January 6, 1904 -- ANIMAL KOTBS,! ; Grasshoppers attain their fireateat size in South America, where they grow to a length of fire inches, and their wings spread out ten inches.
