The young SeaferU have tine claims joining their father's claim. Deniiie Netr has got a luxe place line ly improved, and is making a lust rate citizen. Hew Mr. Brown preached with much acceptance on Sunday to an appreciative audience. The mill is running two-thirds time and just scattering gold in very moder ate showers. Mr. C. S. Emerson has came up from Grey's lXiver. lie says they have no malaria there. Mr. John Waud has had a house burnt back of East Portland, only par tially insured. Mr. A. II. Clakesloy's fruit-dryer has been set up iu the Durell honse ready for operation. Mr. J. Y. Bnvis has laid our. a thous and dollars improving his farm during the past season. Mr. J. V. Hudson has built him a nice house, and is building himself up a charming home. John T. McXulty received a svere kick from a horse the other day which has laid him up. Mr. J. S. Davenport always carries a fall stock of goods, aud a great vuriety desirable articles. Esq, Perry's orchard has been very fruitful this year, one tree btar 15 bush els, one 1G, and oue 17. J. S. Davenport his a big apple on exhibition brought in fiom J. O. Ma son's ranch, the old Harris place. lion. J. C. Miss Alice Walker from The Dalles has been visiting her brothers, Clarence and Orville Garrison in this County. She is soon to return, if t-he has not al ready. Mr. Bancroft, of the firm of A. L. Bancroft it Co., San Francisco, was pres ent at the preaching on Sunday, and - contributed liberally towards the pur chase of a new stove. Mr. John Edinondjt reports that the dance at Thomas Cloninger's was a grand - success, all the luxuries of the 'eason were bountifully supplied and cooked iu a way to make them most palatable.
