On last Saturday, be prepared a blast in one cf the logs which for some reason failed to fire On Monday he went and attempted to build a Are en the log when the blast exploded in bis face, putting out one of bis eyes and otherwise disfiguring him. He is at present in a very oriti eal condition but hopes are entertained of his recovery. The Grand Exhibition given by the Oood Templars of this place on lust Thursday and Friday evenings, was a gr ind success in every sense of the word. Notwithstanding the weather which wa very cold and stormy, tbey came from Salt Creek, Dixie, Monmouth, and other partsof the county, until the Court House was full to overflowing Thursday evening's exer cises were opened by a short an I very appro priate address by Mr. Q. Quebec, Feb 24 the nomination of a candidate for the Quebec east divi sion in tho Provincial House of Assembly took place to day. A furi ous riot began between the Conservati and adherents of the candidates or the National patty. Pistols, knives and clubs were freely used. About 3,000 persona took part in it, which lasted an hour and a half. Two mn were killed and many wounded. It is expected that many of the wounded will die. The hustings were torn down wnd the candidates of the National party beaten. Armed police are partroling the streets in force, and have dispersed most of the rioters.
