John Johnson, who was at work on North Coos river, was instantly killed about two weeks ago, by the caving in of the ditch in which he was at work. He was a single man and was between thirty-five and forty years of age. Several new brick buildings are about completed in Eugene city. The roseburg paper says: 'Track lay ing on the railroad has not progressed owing to the lack ef bolts. Everything is ready for the track, and it is expected that the cars will da running here sometime during the week."
