Mr. Scott and party returned (rom the coast last Monday. Tbey were on the beach three days, and enjoyed themselves splendidly. The road is in excellent condition, the weather pleasant, and everything favorable for a good time to those wi-hing to try it. The Retired Parson" will please excuse us for not publishing bis correspondence. The charges are well founded and every proposition laid down so palpable that wo believe not even the clergy themselves would pretend to deuj them. But severe criticism in suah cases only Arouses an enmity without working a reform Mammon is the God of a great portion of the world, and the remainder will accasionally cast a wishful eye over their prayer books when an opportunity offers to feast their eyes upon th glittering metal. The report which was circulated extensively here, last week, to the effect that the email pox had broken out among the Indians on tho coast at the mouth of Salmon river, is wholly un founded. Mr. J. M. Scotr, who hasjust returned from there, says there are but very few Indians there, and none of them sick. Last Saturday night some parties at the meeting at Dixie, bent on mischief, took a lot of large frames containing photographs, that were hanging out for samples on the cur ot W. II. Catterlin. They broke the glass and ihe fratneg and carried off the pictures. Mr Catterlin in forms us that be was injured to tho amount of about forty dollars. A young gentleman a short time since went to pay his regular attentions to his sweetheart. "There sonny, take that and run home no; its nearly nine o'clock, and your ma will feel anxious about you." Tableau, ami exit youth Strange, but fact. The Fourth at Dixie. It is a fad thing to pass through life only half alive. Yet there nro thousands whose ha'oitua condition is one of Lmgour and debility. They complain ot no fpecific diitac; they suffer no positive pnin : bnt they have no relish for any thing which affords inentnl or penmious ph ajsure. In nine cafes out f ten this stuto of lasf itu ie and torpor arises from a morbid Momach. In idgestin destrojs the energy of both mind and bodv. When the waste of uatureis riot aunplied bv i due and regular asitnululioti of the food, every organ is aturvea, ami every luncuonis in terrupted. Now, what does common on9 suggest under these i-isreumstiiuecs of depression ? 'Ihe system needs rousing and strengthening ; not merely for an hour or two, to ink afterward into a more pititiablu condition than ever (as it u'ssunlly would do if an ordinary a!eoh..lic stinml n were resorted to,) but radically and permanent- ly 'llow is this desirable object to be accomplish ed ? Tho answer to thii question, founded on the unvarying experienco of a quarter of a cen tury, is easily given. Infuse new vigor into the digest ivo organs by a course of Hostctter's Stom ach Bitters. Do not waste time by administer ing temporary remedies, but wake tho system up by recuperating tho fountain -heal of phys ical strength and energy, the great organ upon which nil tho other organs depend for their nur ture and support. By the time that a dozen doses of tho great vegetable tonic and iuvigorunt have been lakun tho feeble frame of tho dyspeptic will begin to feel its bengii influence. Appetite will be created and with appetite tho capacity to digest what it craves. Faded or gray hair is Boon restored to its original color with the gloss an freshness of yevdk. 'j&iio hair it thick ened, falling hair checked, faud bald ness often, though not always, cured by its use. Nothing can restore th hair where the follicles are destroyed, or the gland atrophied aud decayed. But such a3 remain can be saved for usefulness by this application. Instead of fouling the hair with a pasty sedi ment, it will keep it cleau and vigorous. Its occasional use will prevent the hair from turning gray or falling off, and consequently prevent baldness. Freo from those deleterious Bubstancea which make soma preparations dangerous and injurious to the hair, the Vigor caa only benefit but not harm it. It wanted merely for a HAIR DRESSING, nothing else can bo found so desirable. Containing neither oil nor dye, it doea not soil white cambric, and yet lasts long on the hair, giving it a rich glossy lustre and a grateful perfume. Prepared by Dr. J. C.
