D'Lashmutt, popularly known as " Uoclo Ed," is lyin very ill at bis residence on Salt Creek. We are really sorry to hear that he is troubled with phthisic again, for he has already suffered a deal of pain from this complaint. At last accounts he was a little better. David Guthrie injured himself severely last Saturday by kneeling down on a board in which was a sharp nail. The nail penetrated bis leg just below bis knee, to a considerable depth, causing a very painful wound, and for a time it was feared lockjaw would ensue. At last accounts, Mr. O. was recovering. While in Salem, a short time since, business took us to tho office of our old friend, Hon. J. Quinn Thornton. We foond him busily en gaged operating a very singular looking appa ratus.
