And hfo nideod, is not The thing we planned it out cro hope was lead; 1 And then we women cannot choose our hit. ! Much must bo borne which it is hard to he ir ; i Much given away which it were gwvet to keep. God help us all ! who need indeed His care. And yet, I know the Shepherd loves His Bheep. My little boy begins to babble now Upon my knee his curliest infant prayer : lie has his father's eager eyes, I know. And they say too, his mother's sunny hair. But when he sleeps and smiles upon my knee, And lean feel his light breath eonio and go, I can think of one Heaveu help and pity me! Who loved mo, and whom I loved, long ago. Who might have beou ah ! what I dare not think. We are all changed. God judges for the best. God held us to do our duty, humbly, and not shrink, And trust in heaven humbly for the rest. But blame us women not, if some appear Too cold at times and some too gay and light; Some griofs gnaw deep; sumo woes are hard to bear ; Who knows the past ? Anil who can judgo us right ? Ah, were we judged by, what we might have been, And what wo are to ant to fall ! My little child ho sleeps between These thoughts and mo. Iu Heaven wo shall know all. Similar curiosities have been found in Nevada, which are de scribed as almost round, the majority of them as large as a walnut, of an ir.u v j nature. When distributed about upon j the floor, table, or other level surface within two or three feet of each other, they immediately began traveling toward a common ceutre, and there huddled up in a bunch like jJotof eggs in a nest. A single stone, removed to the dis tance of three and a half feet, upon being released at once started with wouderful and somewhat comical celer ity, to join its fellows ! taken away four or five feet, it remained motionless They are found in a region that is a comparative level, and is nothing but bare rock. Scattered over this barren region are little basins, from a few feet to a rod in diameter, and it is in the bottom of these that the rolling stones are found. They are from the size of a pea to five or six inches in diam eter. The cause of the stones rolling together is doubtless to bo found in the material of which they are composed, uhch appears to bo loadstone or mag netic iron ore. Chicago Fire. A remarkable in stance of courage andpresence of mind is told of Mr. E. I. Tinkham, of the Second National IJauk. On Monday morning, before the fire hid reached that building, Mr. Tinkham went to the safe and succeeded in getting out $G00,000. This pile of greenbacks he packed in a common trunk, and hired & colored man for 81,000 to convey it to the Milwaukee depot. Fearing to be recognized in connection with the pre cious load, Mr. Tinkham followed the man for a time at some distance, but oon lost sight of him. lie was then overtaken by the fire storm, and was driven toward the lake on the south Side. Here, after passing through several narrow escapes from suffocation he succeeded in working his way, by eome means, to a tugboat, and got round to the Milwaukee depot, where here he found the colored man waiting for him, with the trunk, according to uromise. Mr. Tinkham paid him $1,000, and tartedTor Milwaukee. The money wae i safely deposited in Marshall & UiSley'8 j w iuai uny. j Facts and f ancies. Foot Notes Shoemaker's bills.
