The trials of ibo Communist leaders taken alive wi 1 commence during the present week, and conviction is inevit aide. It is generally believed ' that eve,ry one will suffer deth. After a desperate and bloody cc fiict, 'he Government troops succeeded in ciptuiing the insurgent position at Belleville and Pere ia Cbaise late on Saturday night. The firing then ceased, and yoterday morniog on the troops advancing uon one position he:d by the Cctnunits, the in.-urgents hoisted a white flag and surrendered in a body. Thirty-eight regiments of the lines, belonging to McMahon's army, return ed to Vt-rsaiiles in triumph, flying the the magnificent banner of thr Bepubiic eupfimd from the Communist. Vinoy is appuiuted Gov. of Paris by Thi rs. It is proposed as a temporary meas ure to divide the Capitol into twenty milita-y districts, each to be strong y g irrijsoned. This artangement will bt: maintained until order is completely restored, and until the passions aroused by the insurrection have disappeared Owing to the admirable plan adopted by Me.Mahon fur stunning the barrU -aIcs held by the Communists, his trops did nut suffer heavily during the seven days of fighting in the streets Th los to the army is altuge'her 2, 805, whilt. according to the most relia ble estimates, the loss of tho insurgents is over fifteen times as great. It is s'ah'd on good authority that among the unfortunate persons held as 'otaires in prison in La I!oqut, who were murd'-red, were ten nuns. On Saturday the insurgeut prisoners at Tartary made a desperate t Hon to escape. They set fire to the straw given them to sleep on, and in the c m tusion which followed broke out of the flames. Sixty-two effected an escape. Twenty-four have been recaptured The French Governmentwill ask the ex-tradition of all Communists chiefs who have already taken or may take refuge in England, as under the French law they are regarded as crimi nals who come within the terms of the extradition treaty, A dispatch from Paris last night pays the firemen from Antwerp are now entering Paris. The firo in the Hotel de Ville is extinguished. Pajchal and Groussft, the two prin ciple leaders of the insuirection, are not to be diseovered. It is believed they arc alive and hiding. The remnants of the insurrection, consisting of a few scattering: bands, have taken refuge in the Bois de Parliament, i ' Insanity Cured by a Surgical Operation, Some months ago a colored .man named Pylcr was brought to the Central Lunatic Asylum, suffering from insanity of the most ferociocs and dangerous character, resulting'from the kick or a horse, which crushed the skull and pushed down a large piece of bone upon the brain. His condition required the severest restraint, and it was found nec essary to confine him to a close cell, and to keep him in baudcufFs, and even then he found opportunities to! attack his attendants. Dr. Conrad, the super inteudant, then called the attention of Dr. Hunter McGuire to the case, and Br, McG., after an examination, deter mined to attempt the removal of the bone, which was pressing upou and-in-to the brain. The operation ,was suc cessfully performed, and a piece 2 inches long and 1 inch wide was re moved. This was three months ago. and though previous to the time the patient had been having constant epi leptic fits, and as many a3 three or four per day. he wholly recovered . from them. There is now no insanity and though the mind is considerably cnfVe blod its powers are fast returning. Tin' wound caused by the surgical operation has heale1 up, and the man is walking about without restraint, and promises to get well Richmond Enquirer. Saturday, May 27th, to the wife of G. II.
