A detailed description of the various articles in the car worthy oi mention would occupy columns. The upper portion of the sides of the c.ir and the roof are given up principally to grains and grassBs, while inside of an iron railing which extends on each side of the alley through the car, shelves, arranged like stairs, con tain the fruits, vegetables, etc. In the center of the car on one side is the engine and dynamo for hea'iug and lighting, opposite to which is a desk for the manager, where stood Secretary E. C. M is ten, ff the board of immigration, recording the contiibutions to the fund for maintaining the car pre sented by many as they as.-ed. At one side, near the door, etood Major Keed, manager of the car, clad in his uniform, which, as he explained, was made in Oregon of cloth made here from wool grow n in this state, lie welcomed all comers, and informed them that car U beiiig s.'nt out by the board of immigration, for the benefit of the state. "We intend," said he, "to take it over 10,003 miles, all through the East and South, to show-people there what is raised in Ore'gon. This is not a private scheme, but it is a public enter prise. It is, y ur car, ladies and gentlemen, and is sent out for the benefit of the whole state." This is only a sample of what the volu ble manager poured forth, round ing up every period with an invi tation to the visitors to do their chare toward defraying the ex penses of the car. "Anil the more there is subscribed the longer th car will be kept on the road," sa;d he. The grains and grasses are ar ranged along the sides and roof of the ear in a lattice work similar to the display in the exposition, pro ducing a beautiful effect. AloDg the roof aie huge branches of hops as taken irom the poles, ears of corn, big tassels of tine wool, while at intervals are pictures of Oregon scenery, sial&s of tobacco, wisps of llax, etc. On the shelves on one side weie jars of preserved fruit and boxes of dried fruits in great varietv and of extraordinary sizes and beauty. On the opposite side are ghss jars containing samples of all kinds of grains grown in the state, inter persed with fres' fruits, etc. The display of minerals occupies hilt tl one side of the car, the smaller specimens beir.g wired to the shelves in cabinets, and the larger on the shelves below. Thete are tine samples of all of the ores fo'Jnd in the state copper, lead, iron, gold iiart, marble, building stone, rooting slate, etc. Over these is a large ph-jh graph view of this city, the Poitland, and other prominent building Opposite is the display of mam moth s. piushes, pumpkins and other, vegetables, which would make the managers of a state fair green with envy. The display as a whole is one of which every Ore goniau may feel proud, and which cannot fail to give a favorable im pression anions strangers. The car is painted w hiteoutside, and lias the word "Oregon" in large letters along on half of each side. On one side is a painting of Willamette falls, and a grain field. On the other side is a view of the mouth of the Columbia, the best harbor on the coast, the entrance hiving a depth of thirty feet. On one end is a view of Multromah falls, and on the other of Cape Horn on the Columbia. In various appropriate places are painted such phra es as "no cy clones," "no tilizzari'g," the "finest climate on the continent," "land of big re-il apples, gbrioug golden prunes and lu.Muiant her ries," ' no failure of cro;is since the settlement of the state," o t. Observing housekeepers quickly learn that Dr. Price's Cream Baking Powder is far superior to other brands in the fact that they never fail to make the finest pastry, and if they wish to be economical they can dispense entirely with eggs and can use a less quantity of butter for shortening purposes. The advantage is not alone in the saving effected but in avoiding the trouble and frequently the great difficulty of securing eggs that are fresh. This is often a serious trouble. Cakes of various kinds from the informal Griddle Cakes to the stately Bride Cake can be made with Price's Cream Baking Powder, which insures light, sweet and hand some cakes; or when used for Griddle Cakes to be eaten hot enables their production in the shortest space of time, always tender and delicious. Dr. Price's is the only Baking Powder that contains the White of eggs. None so pure ! None so wholesome ! Dr. Price's Cream Baking Powder is re ported by all authorities as free from Ammonia, Alum, or any other adulterant. In fact, the purity of this ideal powder has never been ques ' tioned.
