Utah. Oct. it. The third anil last day of the Mor mon con fetence lately held resolved itr:di into a polit cal meeting in wnicli red-hot speeches were made and resolutions condemnatory of the Utah Commissi. ;ii. on account of ti:e i barges made against the Church of Jeui Chi ist of Latter Day Saints, were passed From the conclusion of the morning prayer to the opening words of the benediction in the afternoon, theology gave away to politics, and the cloven political l.oo' of the church was displayed. Tlie asser tions in the commission's report that Utah was not, under existing condition?, ready for Statehood, that polygamous marriages were still celebrated, and that Mormons were not free agents in jolitical affairs, were denounced as false and malicious-, and it was declared that the objects of the commission are to retard the admission of Utah as a state and to keep the peoidc under the dominion of territorial vassul ige. The most prominent men in the common councils of the church delivered addresses, and the ser vices of Jonn T. Caine, delegate to congress, and of Franklin t. L'icliards, a political leader, were called into requisition in order to give color to the idea they wish to . oinulgate, that in the resolutions l he voice of the people was sink ing, and not that of the church. The commission's report has stirred Moi monism to its depths, and the leaders, in their endeavors to conn teract the intluence the report will have on congress when their long cherished object of making Utfh a state is presented, are moving heaven and earth. Jefferson's root has recently been dislodged, Milton Thompson, wh used to work for Judge Boise, re cites an interesting reminiscence. He fays that he saw Mt. Jrllirsoa in eruption thirty years g-. As reported by Mr. Thompson, the sight was a grand one, and one not soon to lie forgotten.
