The train then pulled out and after a Bhoit run arrived al Dublin, where a larg crowd had assem bled. A u i as the the train stopped Timulhy Mealy hurriedly, descended from U.c coach, fled and druvc uw'd. He waa recog nized by the cr. wd, however, before he rt-ached a cah and wa greet d with groans. Parnell wth ditliculiy reached a cab hich he entered with Joseph E Kenny. The crowd surrounded the cab, unharnessed the horse and drew him through the dark streets. As the cab rolled along the sheets the crowd followed, singing "God Save Ireland." Upon the arrival at Kenny's house, Parnell made a brief spee h to the crowd. The newspaper United Ireland has got into trouble through its persistent advocacy of the retire ment of Parnell, who is one of the directors of the company - owning the paper. Acting in that rapacity tie to-day seized tne paper, stopped the issue of the current edition, and ejected Acting Editor Bodkin. Parnell'a agent is in poaaesaion of the naper. It is stated that Parnell owns 474 out of 500 shares of capital stock of the com piny. On the street to day a hostile ciowd threatened Healy, who was compelled to seek protection ot the police. 'Ihe Uuited Ireland will reap pear to-morrow, but its policy will be changed. Henceforth it will be a Parnellite organ. Parnell has received a telegram stating that the workmen of Kilkenny would support him. Londos. Dec. 10. The anti-Parnell membeisof the Irish parliamentary party to-day issued a man if eh to to the Irish people. In this they say in part ; ''Parnell, disregarding our appeals to remember the country, evinced an i'l-judged determination to mainiaiu bis untenable position, tbuH threatening to plunge Ireland into a conflict which may over whelm her and caiiie her presen fair prospect to disappear forever. It is the duty ot Irishmen now. irrespective of all consideration of feeling either for Parnell or those differing from him, to adopt a course that will tend to save Ire land frjm destruction." - The signers enumerate at length reasons tor their action, tney Hpecify charges against. Parnell as follows: First He speaks as if be was the injured party, whereas, h alone is responsible for the present deplorable situation. The final question for the Irish nation is to "lose all tor Parnell, or win all without him." The signers refuse to abandon Gladatone for Pat nell or to insist on the liberal leader revealing his plans ior home rule, which action thav say would be foolish, aa it all give advantage to Ireland's toes. On of the most horrible accidents which has .occurred in these parts for a long time is reported from Pleasant Home, a little country village about six miles from here. A fanner named Eccerson was en gaged in clearing some land and was burning up the heavy logs a few days ago. While he was thus employed bis wife came out from the house to nee turn for some pur pore. She stepped on a log which was nearly burned in two. As she did so herwe ght caused the log to part:- The log was on aside hill aud when it broke the pieces tolled down the incline. The woman fell on the lower side and one of the heavy pieces rolled on her and held her last underneath. She was lying on her back and her up urned face was under the end hi the log which was still ablaze, the coaU and hot ashes dropping down on her face. Her husband for a moment waa paralysed with terror and unable to act. Then arousing and finding that he was unable to remove the log from the form of his wife, he ran half a mile for help. When he and another man came back it was found they could do nothing without an ax, and ho Eccercon had to go half a mile back for one. Finally the log was removed and the mangled and now lifeless form of the unfortunate woman was taken to her home. CANNOT A DM I MI ST KK OATHS. A decision affecting the validity of title to many thousand acres of coal and timber lands entered in this state was rendered iu the United States district court to-day. Three men who had entered coal lands in this ounty made atfitavite before a notary publk that they bad made i he requisite amount of improve ment3 on claims. The men were, h iwever, indicted by the United ftat grand jury for peijury. Their attorney demurred on th iriound that a notarv public wa not authorized by tha United states statutes to administer oath, and hence hi acts would not be recognized The court sus tained the demurrer and held that notary public is not a competent officer to administer oaths, and that the United statutes do not recognize a notary. In th senate, the house bill to authorize tb payment of a drawback or rebate on tobacco to correct the omission in the tariff bill, passed. The senate then reurud the consideration of tha election bill. Senator Hawley to-day iutro duced a bill to dedne a line of army and increasa its efficiency. Tb bill provides for the same number ol regulars in the infan try, cavalry and engineers as at present, but incresses the artillery oy two regulars. Senator Farwell to-tlay intro duced a biil t amend section 1 of the present silver law so as to direct the secretary of the treas ury to purchase all the silver bullion offered at market price, not exceeding $1 for 87,125 grains of pure silver, and issue in pay ment United States treasury notes. Senator Wolcott introduced a bill to make apolicahle certain sections of the revised statutes, so that hereafter coinage of gold and silver may be carried on at the branch mint at Denver. : IN TUB BOC&E. The representatives composing the housA contingent of the joint congressional committee on immi gration, agreed upon a bill to reg ulate immigration. Chairman Owen will report the bill aa soon as possible. - In explanation of the general features of the measure, Owen to-day said: "It iaavaew contract; Tabor law. The old law is so wretchedly inefficient that, according to the testimony of the labor inspectors employes, twenty per cent, of the immigration now coming to this country is in viola tion of the contract labor law. The statute was framed to fill the conditions of things that existed at the time the law waa passed. Emplcvers have now changed their methods and the law is un able to reach them. It is prac tically useless, so we have framed a new law. We have also very much enlarged the prohibited classes oi immigrant. Polyga mous persons are added to the list of classes defined in the Owen bill as not entitled to be admitted into the United States. Tax upon aliens, which in Owen's bill was fixed at 50 cents, was increased by the comnrittee to $1. In the house a bill was passed authorizing the Corpus Christie and Padre Island Harbor Company to const uct a harbor off the shore of Padre island, cost of Texas. J. W. HaHiway was elected postmaster of the bouse. Cutcher to-day introduced a bill to authorize the president to pre scribe a system for the examina- j tion of enlisted men in the army to determine their fitness for pro motion to the grade of second lieutenant. Statisti cal returns from the department of agriculture for December gave the average farm prices of agricul tural products from estimatea made both by the government and state. The present corn crop is worth more than the last, and farmer will receive more for it. The average price by the present re turns is 60.1 per bushel, against 28.3 for '8D. It is the highest December pric of s decade except '81, when the average rose te 63.0' cents. The average . farm value of the wheat crop ia esti mated at 84 cento per bushel, against ti0.8 for '89. The value of wheat is affected by the harvests of other countries, -and therefore the prices are not entirely gov, i erned by the size of the home grown crop. The price of oats has responded sharply to the pressure of a small crop, and increased de maud because of a short corn crop. The average is 42.2 cents against 23 cents lat year. It ia the high tst report since '81. Rye, like oats, at 62.S canto is higher tbao since '81, and the ssme is true of barley at 64.8. The deficiency in the potato crop has caused an ad vance in valves in all section of the country. Th average 77.7 cents, increase of more . than 90 ler cent over the pri?e of the past two years.
