Headmaster J. II. McQnaid with a crew of 50 irren went to the front of the Oregon Paei fic yesterday for the purpose, of putting 'the track in repair and opening the road to the extreme end of the track, pre paratory to the resumption of the work of construction. Tho track at the iront was con siderably damaged by the storms last winter, and the road is ob structed by slides and washouts in several places. The unusual fall of sno.v during tho winter has pre vented the work of repairs, but the recent warm weather has taken much of the snow out, and the track will now be put in good or der. This work will probably re quire two or three weeks, alter which it is understood the work ct ! construction will be resumed, and j the road pushed across the moun- ; tains into Eastern Oregon Ihis will be welcome news to tin people along the hue of the road, n-; well -s to those .1 this city. - llaik I'mm II II lint. .Mr. .1.
