The various ward meetings of the city, both of the republican and democratic parties, mot last even ing fo.i the purpose of nominating councilmen for the city election next Monday, and to elect mem bers of the city central committee. The attendance at the various meetings w as large, and more or less speech making was indulged in. KEl'L'BI.lCAN' NOMINATIONS. The voters of the first ward met at. the armory of F company. I). M. Jones, member of the central committee called the meeting to order and .vas made chai.nian of the meeting. Jay W. (Slain was elected secretary, ('. II. Spencer ami l. eliell were appointed tellers. The names of II. F. Tab ler, T. J. Overman and F. M. Kcd- tield were pr -posed. Mr. Kedfield withdrew, and on the first ballot Tabler recieved 17 voles and Over man II. A dispatch from Portland to the Pendleton Tribune states: It is repotted that the Morning Oregon ian is making arrangements, to erect a large building up town, after the fashion of the leading newspapers of the country.
