Santa Rosa. Nov. 1. Julio Cor- rillo, a Mexican, and, the founder of Santa Rosa, died of asthma in this city Wednesday afternoon, aged 03 years. Deceased was a cousin of General Yallejo, and at one time owned nearly all the land in Sonoma county. He gambled and gave away nearly all hia pos sesions, and during the last, five years of his life has been in almost destitute circumstances. He pre sented years ago to the county a number of lots in this city, and on one the present court house stands and now of great value. He has been kept from actual want by the county supervisors who have paid him a salary as janitor of the court house, although he has been able 'o perform but little work. He was a Mason. A Bridal .Trip Begun Silently at Foir O'clock in the Morning. A San Diego, Cal., dispatch says the oft-told tale of the stern parent and two young and romantic lovers accounts for the fact that John Min ion and Iva Davis were compelled to charter a yacht and sail out on the high seas yesterday to get married. Miss Davis is only a little over 17 years old, and her father wanted her to marry a much older man and one she did not care for. Minton aud the girt have been en gaged for some time, and in spite of the vigilance of Mr. Davis the young man managed to smuggle the girl away from her home at Old Town yesterday morning at 4 o'clock. The yacht Sappho was engaged. It was several hours before a minister could he found who would consent to tie the knot, but eveutually a email boat put out to the v.8el with a clergy man anil the vcya.v began. The Sappho is a tiny craft, and the whole party was deathly seasick, but they managed to have the knot tied between the swells, and the newly married couple reached the shore late iu the utterncoi: and took the first motor to sue for parental forgiveness. His reputation in this respect has resulted in his having a rare collection of pho-toet-aphs ot babie3. Nearly every day's mail brings the White House a number of letters enclosing photo giaplis of infants. They represent babies in variety enough for a modern baby show. The photos are all of boy babies, aud the letters announce that their names are Benjamin Harri son Smith, Jones or Robinson, etc, ere. Sometimes there io a pair of tMiua. They were just a few that had been snapped together with a rubber band. They were twenty-three of them and two pairs of twins. None iu this collection was colored, but I beheye several little charcoal sketches from nature have been arceived. Of the photos I have seen it must be said, at the risk of offending a large com in u. nity of mothers, that but few are in any way remarkable for good looks, though in n'-e than one case the mothers have inncied their little ones resembled Baby McKee. They are represented in a variety of attitudes, and in various stages of nakedness. They vary in apparent age from a few months to but a few days. Some times the infant's photograph is ac companied by that of the mother, or of both father and mother. One in fant is chewing the end of an Ameri cas flag. Another is dressed in a Continental uniform, though he has to be held in an upright position to show it. Another has not anything on worth mentioning, and is making a critical examination of the soles of both his feet at the same time a thing he accomplishes by bowing the legs ou and turning the feet inward. There is nothinc especially fancy about any of them. They arc a matter-of-fact lot of youngsters, who ap pear to be entiiely irresponsible for either their existence or the ambi tious journey of their photographs to tha White House. The fact of those that are seen by the public being so uly is explained by the statement that the P:esiient has saved out some of the best-looking ones to keep. The others are lying around, so that you ars liable to liuJ a bundle of them iu almost any room i.i the house. The mother who name their young sters after the President and send him their pictures probh.y expect some lecoguition, but the most they get is a card with an engraving of the White House and the President's autograph. Such a one came to light yesterday in Castle Garden. Mary Casey, a comely Irish lass, and John Dolan arriveit in port on the Cunard steamer Servia. John is a light headed, rosy-checked boy, 19 years of ace. He came from Kilkenny, Ireland, where his father keeps a gen eral store. Miss Mary, who is dark-eyed and thir.-y-c'ieeked, contested to 21 yea.s aud exhibited Vis 7 cash. She said it was part of a legaoy of 317 left her by her grandfather, who died three years ; ago, She is a graduate of Bagott College, Dublin, and since .her grandfathers death she has been teaching school at Mulduvat, an agri cultural town near ivv'kenny.
