Ellis, the blackguard who poses as a holiness revivalist, and has been raising a row at Brownsville, was in the city yes terday with a wagon load of traps, including a printing press,which he said he was removing to that place. Their first great move will be to build a flume eight feet wide and two feet deep from a point on the middle fork of the Santiam, whence a suiiicienti fall exists to carry water to the desired point on top of their quartz ridge, thence to be conveyed in the several directions as required bv themselves or others. Mr. C. E. Barrows has received a letter from his wife, who has been seriously ill in Dakota that she is improving in health. She will join iter husband here in a short time. E. J. Mc ustland, of this city, will leav next week foi the San tiam mines to complete the final estimates for an extension Hume to be built by the Dry Gulch Mining Co. of Salem.
